This presentation will demonstrate to educators, administrators, parents, and students how we have met the challenge of integrating technology into the rigorous routine of the school day. Our presentation will focus on the typical day of a student at Overbrook School for the Blind. We will highlight both middle school students, who are brand new to the world of technology and high school students whose challenge it is to apply their previously learned technology skills to their academic curriculum.
The format for our presentation will be based on a PowerPoint presentation, video footage, discussion, and a question and answer session. Lesson plan ideas and various software programs will be highlighted as they relate to the general education curriculum. Lesson plans, vendor lists, references and websites will be available in print and on an IBM 3 ½” floppy disk.
The overall goal of this presentation is to inspire our audience. We hope that you will leave feeling more at ease with the magnificent task of integrating technology for students who are visually impaired into your school day. We hope that you, in turn, will inspire your students to recognize the importance of technology in their future.
