CSUN offers many field courses in ecology and evolution providing opportunities for hands-on research experiences. The Bachelor of Science Program (B.S.) offers students a specialty option in Environmental Biology. Graduate students in the Biology Master's program (M.S.) with interests in ecology and evolution develop a customized curriculum of advanced ecology and evolution topics that supports their interests and engage in original research for their thesis. CSUN students in ecology and evolution frequently publish their research in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals. Graduates often go on to Ph.D. programs at other institutions or establish careers in environmental education, environmental consulting, or natural resource management.
Faculty and students conducting research in ecology and evolution at CSUN are members of the Center for the Study of Biodiversity. The center serves as the unifying intellectual entity for all CSUN faculty, staff, and students engaged in research that furthers our understanding of the causes, importance and protection of biological diversity in terrestrial and marine ecosystems. For more information, please visit the Center's website.
