Mary is Animation Area Coordinator and teaches Animation. She developed the Animation Program and was former Director of Entertainment Industry Institute. Prior Animation teaching includes: Computer Animation Dept. of Ringling College of Art & Design, Savannah College of Art and Univ. of Tampa. She has also taught Filmmaking, Visual Literacy and Drawing. Before her academic career, she was an Animator/Art Director with work televised on: PBS, CBS Captain Kangaroo, Nickelodeon, USA Network and Canadian TV. Awards: Emmy Award participant-Best Children’s TV Show, Captain Kangaroo; Houston Int’l Film Fest- Silver; Zagreb World Fest, Yugoslavia; ASIFA East-2nd NY; Besteller Award B/PAA, NY.
As a creative independent artist, her work utilizes drawing, painting, animation, digital filmmaking to explore social, cultural and historical phenomena. Projects are about historical prejudices and fantasies arising from the dual separatism and commingling of the cultures of Taos, New Mexico: Pueblo Indian, Hispano, and Anglo. Her ongoing research concerns the ancient Pre-Pueblo Indians of Southwest. Exhibitions: Taos Picture Show, NM; Women in Director’s Chair, Chicago; Edge Show, Los Angeles; Scarfone Gallery, Tampa and Lucy Lippard’s Traveling Show. Awards: Pensacola Bay Int’l Fest-Best Animation; Women Artist Regional Kansas City-2nd Place; Jerome Richfield Scholar; Grants for Creativity and Research.
