This site focuses on assessment for the purpose of guiding instruction. Assessments with treatment validity are up-to-date, are individualized, primarily assess that which is being taught, and guide further instruction are said to have treatment validity. They answer the questions, "What does this student do?" and "What does this student need to learn next to meet his goals?" Therefore, effective assessments for reading instruction are frequent and focused on a student’s present level of performance in decoding, comprehension, and related sub-skills.
