Background:

I am a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the California State University Northridge. My training is in computational condensed matter with emphasis on electronic structure. I also serve as the chair of the department.

I was born in Malaysia and after completing high school there, I came over to the United States for my post-secondary education. I received a Bachelor's degree in Physics (1982) at Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in Physics (1988) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. My thesis advisor was Professor David L. Huber. Upon completing my doctorate, I spent several years as a post doctoral fellow at the University of West Virginia under the direction of Professor Bernard R. Cooper before I assumed my present position.
