Background: I am a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the California State University Northridge. My training is in computational condensed matter with emphasis on electronic structure. I also serve as the chair of the department. I was born in Malaysia and after completing high school there, I came over to the United States for my post-secondary education. I received a Bachelor's degree in Physics (1982) at Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in Physics (1988) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. My thesis advisor was Professor David L. Huber.
