Background:

I am a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the California State University Northridge. My training is in computational condensed matter with emphasis on electronic structure. Subareas of interest include magnetic, optical and mechanical properties. I am also the undergraduate advisor for the department.

I was born in Malaysia and after completing high school there, I came over to the United States for my post-secondary education. I received a Bachelor's degree in Physics (1982) at Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in Physics (1988) at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. My thesis advisor was Professor David L. Huber. Upon completing my doctorate, I spent several years as a post doctoral fellow at the University of West Virginia under the direction of Professor Bernard R. Cooper before I assumed my present position.
