Hsci 445 Dr. Robert Huff
Individual Project: Pamphlet Design Project Requirements
Students in Hsci 445 will be expected to address the following elements in the paper they will develop related to the design of an educational pamphlet they will create as one requirement for the course:
- Introduction to the paper, identification of the health issue they are addressing, and a statement of the problem to be resolved using the pamphlet. (5 points)
- Target group focus and description using available data to describe the target group. (5 points)
- Health education learner objectives to be addressed by the pamphlet written in measurable terms. (5 points)
- A detailed discussion of how you actually went about the design of your pamphlet including how you decided on titles, graphics, color, layout and other design issues. It is expected that everyone will pilot test their pamphlets with members of the targeted group for the pamphlet during the design phase and will discuss this in this section of their paper. In addition, a discussion of how your pamphlet is to be utilized will also be expected (10 points).
- Evaluation processes to be used to determine the efficacy of the pamphlet pre and post-production. This will include a Readability Score and SAM Score along with other evaluation approaches that might be used. (10 points)
- It is expected that students will use subheadings when writing their Design Paper and that appropriate citations using APA Referencing Style will be included to support how and where the student got their information for their pamphlet. A Reference/Bibliography page is expected at the end of the paper along with whatever other supporting materials the student wishes to attach to their paper.
In addition, the pamphlet will be included as an attachment to the paper and will be evaluated for layout, functionality, readability, spelling, grammar and related production values (15 points)
Students will be expected to bring a copy of their pamphlet for each student in the class on the day of their presentations. These may be simple copies on plain paper.
Students will present their pamphlets in class and discuss the following points in their presentation:
- Topic
- Target Group
- Learner Objective(s)
- Design Issues and Pilot Testing
- Evaluation: Readability and SAM Scores
All written papers must be double-spaced and will be evaluated for grammar,
punctuation, spelling, flow, and content.
