 | Here's our family sitting in our seats waiting for the 2003 Rose Parade to begin. Left to right are Nicolás, David, Wendy, Tasha, Eric, Violet, and Sue.
 | The first float in the parade was the American Honda Motor Company float titled "The Power of Dreams". It won the Extraordinaire Trophy.
 | Next came the "Garden of Imagination" float sponsored by the Bayer Advanced Garden. It won the Animation Trophy; all the flowers, butterflies, and birds moved.
 | The Sweepstakes Trophy was won by Rain Bird Corporation for their float titled "Water Wonderland". It reminded us of our recent trip to southern Africa.
 | The FTD float was titled "Fairytale Fantasy" and it won the President"s Trophy. The grandchildren noted that it must be a fairytale because the butterfly wings were attached to bodies the comparable size of dragon flies.
 | Bands are a big part of the parade. This one is the Los Angeles City Band.
 | The Automobile Club of Southern California called their float "A Big Adventure", and it won the National Trophy. As it went by us, Stuart Little turned his biplane upside down.
 | As the parade progresses, David holds Nicolás on his lap, while grandma gets both Violet and Tasha.
 | The "Yellow Submarine", sponsored by the Farmer's Insurance Group, didn't win a trophy, but it was beautiful to look at anyway.
 | The Directors' Trophy went to "Read Me a Story", sponsored by Dr. Pepper-Seven Up, Inc. The dragons breathed out steam as the proceded along the parade route.
 | Home Depot sponsored a float titled "Backyard Playground". It won the Grand Marshal's Trophy.
 | One of the best bands in the parade is always the Marine Band. This year the U.S. Marine Band from Twentynine Palms, California entertained the crowd near the end of the parade.
