Day 1 on north side

7:00 a.m., August 6, 2001. Houses as they appeared on the east end and on the north side when we arrived on the morning of the first work day. Each of the three buildings is a quadruplex consisting of four dwellings, two downstairs and two upstairs. Sue and Gene were assigned to the first building (on the left), Sue working on the inside and Gene on the outside.

Day 2 on north side

7:00 a.m., August 7, 2001. By the morning of day 2, the insulation and composition board sheathing had been nailed in place on the north side and most of the blue foam board had been secured on both the east and north sides. The group was gathered for morning devotions.

Day 3 on north side

7:00 a.m., August 8, 2001. By the morning of day 3, the remainder of the blue foam board had been attached and the vinyl siding had been nailed part way up both the east and north sides.

Day 4 on north side

7:00 a.m., August 9, 2001. During day 3 a little more siding was added on the north side and east end, but most of the work was taking place on the other two sides of the building (see below).

Day 5 on north side

7:00 a.m., August 10, 2001. On day 4 once again most of the outside work took place on the south side and west end of the building, so all that shows in this view is a little bit of additional siding that was put in place on the east end.

Day 6 on north side

5:00 p.m., August 10, 2001. By the end of the project, siding was complete on the east end and mostly complete on the north side.

Day 2 on south side

7:00 a.m., August 7, 2001. On day 1, a little insulation, composition board sheathing, and blue foam board were put in place on the south side of the building. Shown here is what the south side looked like on the second morning of the project.

Day 3 on south side

7:00 a.m., August 8, 2001. During day 2 a little more sheathing and blue foam board were added to the south side, but most of the work was being done on the north side and east and west ends of the building.

Day 4 on south side

7:00 a.m., August 9, 2001. Again, not much change shows on the south side by the morning of day 4 because most of the work was being completed on the other three sides of the building.

Day 5 on south side

7:00 a.m., August 10, 2001. Day 4 was the day to get the south side of the building caught up with the other three sides.

Day 6 on south side

5:00 p.m., August 10, 2001. By the end of the project the vinyl siding reached half way up the south side of the building and there was not much more left to do on the outside. The buildings were completed the next week by a few of the volunteers who remained to finish the job.
