Blue-footed Booby, courtship begins

Blue-footed Boobies begin courtship with a prancing dance step. This picture and the next three are on Seymour Island.

Blue-footed Booby, a response

Interest in the courtship is shown by arching the back, thrusting the head straight into the air, and extending the wings outward.

Blue-footed Booby, response returned

It is clear that the two Blue-footed Boobies in this picture have a mutual attraction.

Blue-footed Booby, culmination

And so, once again the Blue-footed Booby colony on Seymour Island perpetuates itself and is saved from extinction.
