Please choose any 70-minute period from the scheduled quiz day from midnight 

to almost midnight (approximately 24 hours from 12 am to 10:50 pm) to take 

the online quiz. You are allowed to login quiz questions only one time.  Make 

sure that nothing will interrupt you during the 70-minute quiz duration. Final 

is not cumulative or comprehensive.

  

Objective:

 

To acquaint the students with the principle and the methods of reporting 

and forecasting weather based on weather maps, satellite and radar images, 

as well as the MOS package provided by the National Weather Service.

 

Goals of the General Education Program:

 

In order to achieve the objective aforementioned, the course introduces to 

students the fundamental and advanced scientific principles which govern 

the behavior of weather and climatic variability.  Besides, the course prepares 

students with the skill and the knowledge of accessing and interpreting weather

and climatic information which may be useful in their fields of specialization

  Calendar.

  Please complete Chapter practice questions (and practice quizzes)

  as many times as possible. There are no credits for chapter practice

  questions (and practice quizzes). However, some quiz questions

  are derived from chapter practice questions (and practice quizzes).

  Please find answers to the questions or statements in the Study Guide

  of each Quiz listed in the Content Modules.

 

 

Course Requirements and Methods of Evaluation  

 

1. 3 quizzes (in Quiz icon): 50 points each, total 150 quiz points.  

2. A writing paper of 2,500 words+ on a given subject (ENSO, for example)

 or a combination of several papers on different weather subjects that  

 contains 2500+ words in total. Please click GE Writing Requirement and 

 Paper Submission icons on Homepage for details. It is a credit worth 

 10 points

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Criteria for the Assignment of Grades

 

Your course grade will be ranked by the total points (160) you have earned:

 

A and A-:               top 20% of the class 

B+, B, and B-:            next 25% of the class

C+ and C:                next 50% of the class

C- and lower:       next  5% of the class 

 

The instructor will make an adjustment of grading scale based on the class 

performance.

Students with Disabilities: Students with disabilities must register
