Personal Annotations: The heinies did a nice demo job on this--This is the famous Seine River and we bridged it a few hundred yards from this point--so far this spot is the closest I ever got to Paris.

Personal Annotations: This is the bridge shown in the background on the previous page ["Infantry Support Bridge"]--It was the first bridge over the Seine in that sector--we put it up in record time while one of our platoons secured the far side. We were quite proud of that bridge.

Personal Annotations: Here is the complete bridge--a beautiful job--Jerry sent over about ten bombers one nite in an attempt to knock it out but they never came close--The KO'd part you see here is a figment of imagination of the artist. (What a nite that was--boy were they low.)

Personal Annotations: This is Huntgen and a typical Huntgen road--all mud and no bottom--we worked here a long time--prior to the Roer River crossing.

Artist Comments: "This Bridge Was Built With The Bridgehead Only 200 To 300 Yards Deep And Under Accurate, Observed Artillery Fire."

Personal Annotations: This was put up by one of the group outfits-- we were in reserve on the Roer crossings-- we were to play a big part on the Rhine but the Remagen Bridge changed it and undoubtedly saved beaucoup lives. This bridge was put up on what was known as 88 alley (88 applying to 88 mm gun--fast and accurate).
