Novel Analysis
After writing an in-class essay on the topic of their choice for the novel
Ender's Shadow, students were asked to more fully explore their
ideas in a
carefully developed 3-5 page essay. Their analysis may include any
combination of characters, imagery, a symbol, structural elements, the
meaning of the title or the development of any character. They were asked
to develop a clear thesis indicating how their topic choice helps with
understanding the novel or the main character, being careful to use
specific scenes to support their argument. Textual evidence for support
should be clearly and appropriately cited with clear signal phrases, and a
work cited page should follow the paper.
