Brian Thiele

Brian Thiele currently manages the Student Financial Services Department for California State University Dominguez Hills. In that role he has responsibility for the receipt, reconciliation and processing of all student account activity from tuition fees to collection activity. He is responsible for process and procedure enhancements that will provide quality service for affected students while ensuring that the needs of the university are met.

For 15 years, Brian has facilitated the adult learning process through a variety of business, critical thinking, ethics and introductory courses at the University of Phoenix, a for-profit institution of higher learning. In 2007, he was named a Lead Faculty Area Chair in the School of Humanities. In this role, he provides faculty training and coaching, serves as a mentor for new faculty, and teaches within the College of Humanities. He was recently named by the Southern California Campus to represent the College of Humanities as part of the Campus Academic Council. Brian was named the faculty of the year for the College of Humanities in 2011.

In 2001 he retired as a Vice President from Bank of America after 32 years with the company in a variety of leadership roles in associate volunteer activities, corporate payroll operations, corporate environmental efforts, and investigation of fraud loss activity. Brian taught internal management training classes during a radical corporate culture change within the organization and provided operations management in retail branches.

He holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco.


Leo Van Cleve is the State University Dean of International and Summer Programs for the California State University System based in the Office of the Chancellor in Long Beach. The CSU International Programs work with more than 50 universities in 19 countries to offer study abroad programs for an academic year. In addition to being Director of the systemwide study abroad program, he works with campuses to promote international programs and with Chancellor's Office staff to develop policy and implement systemwide initiatives. Most recently, "global awareness" was included as a part of the CSU System's strategic plan called Access to Excellence.
