December 1998:
Mrs. Shelley Bowen, Mrs. Anna Dunn, Mrs. Sue Wilkins and Dr. Richard Kelley are interested in organizing the First International Barth Syndrome Conference in Baltimore, Maryland to be held sometime in the year 2000. These ladies are industriously working towards organizing this meeting. Please contact them for further details.
March 1999:
Mrs. Shelley Bowen, Mrs. Anna Dunn, Mrs. Sue Wilkins are writing the first ever Barth Syndrome Newsletter. According to Mrs. Bowen, these ladies have contacted 26 families that have affected members. They are aiming for a first printing in October or November. Please email them to request a newsletter or for additional information.
January 2000:
The 1st Barth Syndrome Convention is scheduled to be held between June 16th-19th, 2000 in Baltimore, Maryland. Drs. Kelley, Cox, and Barth will also be in attendance. Contact Anna Dunn: markdunn@mediaone.net for more information.
June 16th-17th, 2000:
The 1st Internation Barth Syndrome meeting was a resounding success. Over 100 family members and approximately 40 affected boys from 4 continents arrived for the Kennedy Krieger Meeting in Baltimore. Drs. Barth, Kelley, Cantlay, Cox, Berry, Gonzalez, Vreken, Brooks, van Aardt, and many other scientists attended the two day meeting. For details see the introduction and the photgraphs page. There may be a 2nd annual meeting next year in Amsterdam, Netherlands, but no date is set.
