This Web Page is for some Annotated Bibliographies that I created for my English 305 Class at CSUN.
For Woodworkers
This is a very good link for information on woodworking and supplies. The site has it’s own magazine which I subscribe to. It has online plans that can be downloaded for a reasonable price. The thing that I like about this site is the plans. It is also why I subscribe to the magazine. The plans are well thought out and are drawn in very good detail. The instructions are simple and non-threading to the novice woodworker. If a technique is required that is a little above the novice the site has step-by-step directions and illustrations to help guide you through the process. They even provide a call out list (a list of all the materials that will be needed for the project) and a cut list (a diagram showing where and how to make all the cuts on the boards so as to provide the most economical way to use the wood.
This is a link to the definitive woodworking expert, Norm Abram. If you do woodworking then you know who Norm is. Norm Abram started with Bob Villa on a program called This Old House back in the late 1970’s. He is a master carpenter and has continued with the This Old House program which is aired on Sundays on PBS. It is also on several other stations across the nation. Norm also has a program called The New Yankee Workshop in which he makes a project. He goes through all the steps of milling and shaping the wood and then the assembly process. He also gives important shop tips during the show and is a big advocate of shop safety. This web site is devoted to that program. On this site you can look at all the projects that Norm had made over the years and buy the plans if you want. You can even buy a copy of the show in which he made the project so you can watch it first to see the techniques that Norm uses. This site also contains a FAQ section, which is updated regularly. There are other links that will connect you to the mother station for the show and links to various sponsors of the show. This is by far one of the best links for buying woodworking plans and asking questions.

2. http://serendipity.magnet.ch/hermetic/crypto/intro.htm
This web site is very dry and technical. I recommend it for those of you who are not impressed with lots of graphics and other superfluous items. This is a bare bones page, which is meant for the well-informed person who is looking for in depth information on such subjects as file encryption.
3. http://www.howstuffworks.com/firewall.htm
This is a great web site! It is designed for the kid in all of us and yet gives us the information we want. I recommend this site for adults and their children as well. This site is not just devoted to firewalls it has an esoteric list of subjects that will appeal to a large audience.
