Doug Moore's Response

Hi Daniel,

My Name is Doug Moore and I am a member of the Bakersfield Church. I have been a member of the church for about 7 years. I have seen many come and go.

The hurt in your letter cuts to the heart. Everything to "paying" contribution to being "marked" by the church could cause one much pain and suffering. I don't really see the good in your letter. Maybe you could elaborate on what Godly thing you hope to accomplish with such bitterness. Part of a support group? I really don't undersand.

People are people, many make mistakes, but God is in control. I am not trying to make a case for the church, but I urge to seek out the motives of your heart and compare them to Jesus. My life is incredible because of the church. Nobody ever took the time of day in the span of my entire life to teach me God's ways. Not just show me the words, but live out the life. I wouldn't be married right now, I wouldn't have enjoyed the success in my career, My kids would be as rebellious as the rest of the world. My insecurity would have beaten me to a pulp. Come to think of it, I'd probably be dead as I never had much conviction about driving around town totally drunk.

I'm sorry for the hurt the church has produced in you. I have felt pain in this movement from time to time. But from what I've seen and heard, the church has it purpose on straight and it will accomplish God's goal for all man kind to hear the Gospel so they can make a decision - to follow God or not.

What is your ministry like now? What is your hope for men? What works in your life show the Glory of God. I am truly interested in knowing.

Love,

Doug
