CSUN Legislative Connection

DESCRIPTION

The Legislative Connection, formed in Spring of 1995, is the volunteer Legislative advocacy arm of the Alumni Association.  The Connection is designed to assist the University in addressing legislative issues which affect CSUN and the California State University system, and to keep elected officials informed of issues affecting Higher Education.  The majority of the members are CSUN alums.

Members are kept informed on issues through a variety of University publications, including Legislative Update, and in special Alerts  on specific issues.  They are invited to participate in a special "Day at the Capitol," which takes place each spring, in tandem with the Statewide CSU Alumni Association's annual reception for members of the legislature.  The University President leads the delegation, which also includes members of the Ambassadors of Higher Education (a local chapter of a CSU systemwide advocacy group that was established by former Chancellor Barry Munitz).  Members may also be invited to various special events.
