Fighter Kite Activites During the 1999 WSIKF

At the Washington State International Kite Festival exciting Fighter Kite action is scheduled every day!  Join in the fun and register for any or all of the Fighter Kite events! All events are free to enter.

MONDAY and TUESDAY  - At the Fighter Kite flying field check out the precision and line touch flying, try flying one yourself, or bring your kite and join in!  There are always casual on going competitions, you’re always welcome to join in those too!  Just ask someone who is flying about getting started.  Everyone is welcome to participate at the fighter kite flying field.

WEDNESDAY - At the Fighter Kite flying field the "Seniors Fighter Kite Precision" competition plus "Seniors Line Touch" competition will held during most of the day.  In the precision category there are many separate events to compete in, compete in as many or few as you wish.   The 1st event will be under way at 10 am Wednesday.  Register at the Fighter Kite flying area any time before the end of
the competition.  It costs nothing to enter and is lots of fun!  Everyone over fifty is welcome to enter!  If you’re under fifty, join in the flying fun before and after the “Seniors” event at the fighter flying field.

THURSDAY - At the Fighter Kite flying area the Northwest Fighter Kite Association is sponsoring the 2nd Annual "Footlong Hotdog" competition.  To compete, your Fighter Kite must have a central spine no longer than 12".  These small kites are truly "hotdogs", they are very quick, fast and a blast to fly and to watch.  Don't miss it! Registration will be at the Fighter Kite flying area from Monday up to the time of the competition, which is scheduled for 11 am Thursday.  Everyone is welcome to enter, there is no entry fee.

FRIDAY - At the Fighter Kite flying field the Northwest Fighter Kite Association’s 2nd Annual “Conrad Cup Buka Fighter Kite Challenge” will take place.  A Buka Fighter Kite is a very unusual style of Fighter to see in flight and especially in competition.  The kite is rectangular in shape!  Registration for the Buka Challenge will be at the Fighter Kite flying area beginning Monday up to the time of the competition, which is scheduled for 11 am Friday. No entry fee and everyone is welcome to enter and/or watch.
To enter all you need is a buka style fighter kite and some flying line!

PLUS - All day Friday you can pre-register for the WSIKF Fighter Kite Line Touch competition at the main registration tent.  The competition is held on SATURDAY. Beginning in the morning at 9:30am and lasting almost all day Saturday.  Experienced and novice flyers are welcome to enter.

SATURDAY - Be sure to register for the Fighter Kite Line Touch competition at the main registration tent.
Registration will begin on Friday and continue Saturday morning until the beginning of the 1st match, which is scheduled for 9:30 am.  This is the "Big One".  About 30 of the best Fighter Kite pilots from around the country will be put to the test !!   This is likely to be an all day Fighter Kite Frenzy!

SUNDAY - Fighter Kites will be flying in the Fighter Kite flying area and are included as part of the kite count toward breaking the record of the most kites flying at one time.

NORTHWEST FIGHTER KITE ASSOCIATION
At the end of 1997 the Northwest Fighter Kite Association (NFKA) was formed.   Members share information and learn from each other about Fighter Kites; how to build them, fly them, repair them etc., but mostly, members like to fly Fighter Kites and flying them more often is one of the goals of the club!  Flying Fighter Kites is a virtual guarantee to grinning a lot!  Join us at one of our flys, everyone is always welcome!
