Academic Goals

I am currently working on a Masters of Education with an emphais in instruction and curriculum. At the same time, I am working in obtaining a secondary education single subject credential in Spanish at California State University, Northridge. For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed teaching others.  I have always been someone who loves to learn new things and share it with others.  My thirst for knowledge has been somewhat of a passion for me.  When I decided to return to school, to further my education, I was not sure of what my major was to be.  Therefore, like many lost students, I tried many different subjects.  I finally came to the conclusion that none of these majors were fulfilling my desires.  After speaking to a professor, here at CSUN, they helped me see the light.  They suggested I take Spanish Literature as a major. So, without further a do, I decided to take Spanish Literature as my major and graduated in June 2006 with honors.
My professors, here at CSUN, helped me in many ways achieve my goal.  I thank them and respect them for taking the time to teach me new materials and to broaden my horizons.  During my time in college, I became a tutor for my fellow classmates.  I helped them with as much as I was able to and I got such pleasure when one of my classmates was able to improve their grades.  Tutoring allowed me to see that I wanted to teach.  I want to be a teacher because I know that I can help others learn.  I want to be able to help others achieve their goals and desires in life.  By teaching them, I believe that I can help them expand their views on life.  Make them realize that there is more to life than just sitting in a classroom, reading books and writing papers.  To learn is a blessing that many people take for granted.  I believe that to succeed in life, you must be open to learn and take in all the knowledge you can acquire.

Introduction

Hi,I was born and raised in Peru and lived there for eighteen yearsGiacomo Delgado-Carcheri

It was in 1991 when my family decided to move to the country of opportunity, the United States. The first couple of years were difficult adapting to a new way of life and an estrange language. My main priority was to help my family out financially so I worked from the beginning I stepped foot on US soil. My English began to improve, but the thought of achieving a career was no where insight until 2000, when I finally decided it was time to follow a path of higher education. Santa Monica Community College was the beginning of the rest of my educational career.
This country has given me so much that it is now my turn to give something back. And by teaching I know I can be of great help and joy to many students to come. If I can make a difference, then hopefully those who learn from me can pursue their own goals and make a difference in other people’s lives. The world can be a better place the moment one person makes a positive change, and I know that person can be me.

Educational Philosophy

I am currently enrolled in the credential program.During this first semester I have learned a great deal of teaching methods.  Techniques that I plan to utilize with my future students.
My main goal as a future teacher is to provide every student with the best education possible, so they can excel academically, socially, and individually. Additionally, I hope to achieve this goal by creating a friendly atmosphere where students feel safe and respected by their peers.
In addition, for the future success of my classes, I think that a teacher should use different techniques of education.  Techniques that can keep the student involve and entertained.  If a teacher doesn’t apply a variety of teaching methods, they might loose the interest of their pupils.  Interest that is a key factor for the fastest assimilation by the students.
Also, I know I will encounter a diverse multi-cultural student population.  My duty as a teacher is to create a class filled with unity and understanding. Mostly, a class where every student can learn about their peers’ culture;  I am planning to accomplish this by incorporating different culture abilities into the lessons.
Another important aspect for a positive environment would be motivation.  In my classes, I am planning to motivate my students with what they love the most, free time.  By doing this, I am acknowledging my students that if work is to be done a positive reward they shall receive.  Primarily, the rewarding system would not be individual, instead, it will be offered to the entire class; essentially to avoid friction or discomfort among peers.
Finally, I can say that I am hoping to be able to utilize the teaching methods that I have learned; especially to provide my students with a vast and rich education.  Education that might help them to become, not only better students, but better human beings for the sake of our future society.
