Creativity in Our Culture
Here is Lilia explaining some of her herbal remedies and ZIT cream :-)
Lilia's project was about her Mexican heritage and how many different kinds
of herbs were used to heal ,and prevent, people from getting many illnesses in the past and how they still work just
as well today!
And the Lovely Belly Dancing Vanise
Vanise decided to share her Egyptian culture with us. She entertained the class
with her energetic belly dancing, and even tried to teach the class a few moves.
Vanise Castillo-Saad is a political science major at California State University, Northridge with a focus on Middle East politics. She
loves school so much she plans on continuing her education at the graduate level, and possibly teaching. She is grateful for family
and friends who have been so inspirational and instrumental to her progress, and hopes to reward them someday by forcing them to
call her Dr. Saad. Her true pride and joy, however, is her daughter Olivia, a very precocious 4 year old who constantly keeps her on
her toes.

This is Claudia's alter showing things that may be left on a grave
to honor the dead.
Claudia also decided to share her heritage from El Salvador with us, however she explained Dia del los Muertos,
or day of the dead, with us. She shared how during this day people would go visit the graves of
their ancestors and clean off their tombstones, and leave fresh flowers, to honor those that have
passed on.
Claudia Lizama and planning on graduating in May 2004 with a B.A. in psychology. I am looking forward to attending
graduate school and earning a degree in Educational Psychology. Aside from school, my family and friends are a big part of
my life. Every chance I get, I visit my family in the smallest country in Central America, El Salvador, or catch some waves
with my friends around the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawai’i

Star brought in a poster explaining the Armenian alphabet and what the difference is between the 2
different Armenian alphabets.
And then we have Nick Explaining to us where pizza came from
and different types of pizza
Nick shared his Italian heritage with us, and how Italians have many different
kinds of pizza based on where you are and who is making it for you.

This is all that is left after the class got a
hold of our food!
Eric was taking the pictures so we have no pictures of him
however everyone will remember his grandma's famous cookies!
Eric 21 yrs old and is a senior at CSUN and will be graduating next
semester. He LOVES photography, and will also be TAing for this class next semester
