Theory and Society - Renewal and Critique in Social Theory. Includes subscription-based online editions. Founding Editor: Alvin W. Gouldner. See also the JSTOR editions. Theory and Society plans to publish a special issue in 2006 on Jean-Paul Sartre in honor of the 2005 centenary of his birth. The special issue will be coedited by David Swartz and Vera Zolberg. The journal invites manuscript submissions that address in an original way aspects of Sartre's life and work that relate to his view of society in light of the specific cultural/social/political context in which he worked, and the role that writers, and intellectuals more generally, can play in modern societies.
