About the Instructor

This is a required course in elementary statistical methods for social science applications. The purpose is to introduce the logic and procedures of descriptive and inferential statistics. As such, the goals are to: develop basic skills in statistical reasoning; promote the intelligent use and consumption of statistical information presented in the media; gain familiarity with the use of a computer in statistical analysis and sociological research; and provide a foundation for further study (esp. SOC 497 & 498).
