What is Computer Engineering?
Computer Engineering
deals with the hardware and software aspects of computer system
design and development. Currently, the Computer Science program
deals primarily with the software aspects of computer systems while
Electrical Engineering with the hardware aspects. Computer Engineering
is a combination of the two areas of study. It contains components
of both the computer science and electrical engineering programs.
Job
Forecast for Computer Engineering
Computer Engineering
is expected to be one of the top three fastest growing occupations
through the year 2006. It is ranked in the top 20 in the number
of new jobs available. It is expected that the need for computer
engineers will be particularly high in California. Graduates have
the potential to work in virtually every industry, with a few examples
as follows; microelectronics, communications, intelligence controls,
robotics, networking, and in the entertainment industry.
