Assignment #5

1. Do you think that creativity is part of human nature or is it something that must be nurtured and learned? Please explain your answer.

 

Creativity? Not sure really I would have to say everyone is born with talents and skills that they are naturally good at. Being creative might be one of them. Photography is an art and does take a good amount of creativity but in the professional world of photography you have to know the technical aspects just like any carrier you have to study and master your trade.

 

2. What made you decide to follow a creative career choice (though possibly risky) rather than something more stable?

 

I tried stable didn't like it much. My family owns a restaurant my dad hates the fact that I'm not working for him and opening my own place. I think it has something to do with the 9-5's lifestyle I can't do it. The thought of doing the same thing day in and day out drives me nuts.

 

3. What is your inspiration? How has personal experience influenced your creativity?

 

I really think I fuel my creativity off others creativity if that makes sense I look over at least 30 rags a month keeping up on styles and trends sad thing is none of those books are within my industry most of them are high end tittles The quality of work is great which helps me set the bar a little higher for my own stuff. I also always try to better myself example: lets take one of my departments last issues ModQuad, the next issue I set a goal and do everything in my power to better last months shot.  Sorry don't have an answer for the second part of 3.

 

4. What is your favorite creation? Please explain why you selected this one.

 

Don't know Can I tell you next month after I shoot it? jk I have a number of pieces I like I don't have a favorite because I shoot so much and always try and out do myself making last months favorite this months old news and now I'm on to my next greatest creation. 

 

5. What do you wish to accomplish with your art?

 

Don't know. World Domination "GRIN" Really never gave it much thought as long as my two kids are fed and my bills are payed and I'm left over with enough coin in my account to play a little and buy some toys from time to time I'm happy.

 

6. How do you know when a piece or project is finished and needs no additonal work?

 

sad thing nothings perfect there is always room for improvement. Especially because the world of Journalism puts such tight deadlines on your work it almost makes it impossible to get something up to 100% of what you wanted out of the shoot.

 

7. Have you ever been faced with negative feedback? How was this reflected in your work, if at all?

 

Negative feed back comes with the job. one I'm trying to please myself with what I shoot and I'm usually never satisfied with what I get then on top of that I have my Editor who has very high expectations as well and after him we have a great Art Director that has Super high expectations. Can I add this to Fueling my creativity from question number 3? I never ask hey what did you think of the photos? If I'm reshooting something I know what they think HA glad I don't have to reshoot much! Most of the time it is because we needed an extra shot or was not able to get everything we needed in the time we had.

 

8. What impact do you think that commercialism and the media has had on your work? Is this good or bad?

 

digital vs. film has had the biggest impact. Killed the industry there once was a time that making a buck selling a photo was easy those days died with film. 

 

9. Are you a fan of cartoons? If so, what is your favorite one?

 

I'm not a big fan of cartoons I have to girls so I get caught watching a lot of cartoons as for my favorite does the A-Team count?

 

10.   What is playing in your CD player/Ipod right now?

 

well thanks to the kids nothing... they jammed 3 or 4 discs in my cd player so I'm stuck on the fm channels now. hey my ring tone is a Pantera song does that amount to anything?

 

11. If you had to be any of these things, which would you like to be? a) a member of the opposite sex, b) a clock, c) a pair of shoes, d) a duckPlease explain your choice.

12. If you only had 24 hours to live, how would you spend your day?
