Music Technology Lab (MU238)
Student Use Policy
General
-
No Food or Drink are allowed in the room at any time
-
Software piracy is illegal. Anyone engaging in illegal copying of software
or conspiring to engage in illegal copying of software will receive a failing
grade. I'm not kidding.
-
Removing anything from this lab (even temporarily) is considered theft.
Any student caught removing anything from the lab will be expelled from
CSUN.
-
The Music Technology Lab is open for music majors only and those enrolled in music courses. People enrolled
in Music 191/391 who are currently working on class related projects have
priority use of the computer stations.
-
Please report all problems with the lab by email to the lab administrator,
Dr.
Hosken.
-
Never plug or unplug any cables in the lab without permission from the
music technology instructors.
Printing
-
You are only allowed to print lab-related coursework.
-
The printer is not a copier. Do not print multiple copies.
-
Carefully proofread your work on-screen. Do not use the printer to proofread
"rough drafts".
-
If you print a document and it does not come out of the printer, do not
simply try to print it again. There is some problem that must be fixed
before it will work and since the computer remembers each print command,
when the problem is fixed, multiple copies of your document will be printed.
If you are having a printing problem:
-
Look at the green light on the printer. If it is flashing, the printer
is currently "thinking" about printing. Depending on the complexity of
your document (or someone else's document), it may take several minutes
for the page to print.
-
A printer icon will appear in the dock; if there's a problem, click on this icon to see the status of the print job.
-
If none of these steps resolves the problem, report the problem via e-mail
to the lab administrator, Dr. Hosken,
and try printing your document from another station.
