When did you know that this was what you wanted to
do with your life? How did you get started?

I liked creating and drawing and I was good at it. It also helped me
excel at other things.

Do you do anything special to get your "creative
 juices" flowing? Please explain.

Relax as much as possible and don't answer the phones.

If you could be any object, what would you be?  Why?
A telescope, I like to look beyond what we know and see.

Interview with a creative genius

I interviewed fairly well-known painter, Tom Everhart.  Click here to go to his website.

   1.    When was the first time that you remember realizing that you are a creative person?

I always knew I was an artist, I thought, why not make a profession out of it.

   2.    When did you know that this was what you wanted to do with your life? How did you get started?

I guess I kind of answered this in the last one.  But it all started when I met Charles Shultz in 1980.  Securing that relationship is what made me who I am today.

   3.    What traits, if any, do you think that creative people have as compared to people who are not creative?

I think it we have the ability to see outside the box.  As long as you have an imaging you are creative.

   4.    Do believe that your training has influenced what you create?

Oh, of course.  I mean, all my work is all my creation, but with out the techniques I learned, my painting would not be the same.

   5.    Have you ever felt that your personal expectations have limited your creativity? If so, how have you dealt with this?

I always try to never let anything limit my creativity.  That means I wouldn't be creative.

   6.   Have other people supported or inspired you? Please explain.

Well Charles Shultz most of all.  I wouldn't be who I am today with out his guidance.

   7.   How have you dealt with any criticism you have gotten because of your creative endeavors?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, so I welcome all criticism: positive or negative.  But I don't let the negative ones get to me.

8    Do you ever feel that you have to censor your creativity because you don't want to offend anyone?

Well, I never want to offend anyone.  I have had no complaints regarding that so far.  I don't fee like So perhaps the censoring just comes with out even noticing it.

   9.    Do you do anything special to get your "creative juices" flowing? Please explain.

I always meditate before I paint, which helps me forget about all the crap that perhaps had happened earlier that day and helps me focus on painting and thinking outside the box.

  10.   Does your work convey a specific emotion or message?

I feel that i cannot answer that.  Everyone sees art differently, therefore I cannot say what emotion or message it portrays.

  11.   If you could be any object, what would you be? Why?

I would be a droplet of water in the lagoon of Bora Bora, since I feel there is nothing in nature more beautiful than that.

  12.   What are your words of wisdom for someone starting out in your field?

Be patient.  It can take lots of time for things to fall through.  But if or when it does, take advantage express your feelings as you have never done it before.
