1. Do you think that creativity is part of human nature or is it something that must be nurtured and learned? Please explain your answer.
"Human" nature, no, creativity can and does exsist in many other animals. I know you dont' think this way but humans tend to believe that we are set apart from all other animals, true we are but nearly every thing we do they do, it's a very gray area. In the terms of creativity, creativity is a by product of problem solving, or the ability of the mind to figure and think, when two minds are different they will be expressive in different ways. Horses in parades will march to the beat of the bands, or when they play with empty milk bottles they'll create little drum beats. Primates in studies create art when given the tools to do so. And who knows about under water aquatic life such as whales, maybe they sing songs. Creativity as it exists in other animals is obviously inhereint in humans since no one taught the horse to beat the milk cartons in rythm humans have creativity inhereint in them without any need of direction. The concept of "nurtured" enhances and directs the creativity. Such as my poetry is greatly influenced by R. Burns. In fact "nurtured" can only exisits when there is something there in the first place. Let's take the gender role concept. We (unfortinetly) often nurture males to act male and females to act female. But there had to be some sort of predescribed concept there in the first place in order to bring forth these ideas of "proper" behavior. William Blake philosaphies (sp?) that in order for our minds to dream up of something we must have some knowledge of it, he used this in his argurement supporting God's exsitence.
2. What made you decide to follow a creative career choice (though possibly risky) rather than something more stable?
I'm not, and well because I don't think I have enough talent to sustain a living. But though my fortay is writting I can do graphic arts which on numerous occasions has helped me in causes that I have worked for just like the Earth Day project. All I want in in life is to make a difference, well that's not ALL but that is my "career" goal. I hope to teach but we'll see. I write mainly for fun and hope others enjoy my work, if I get published it would mainly be for vanity (ahh Leos, let me sit back and stroke my mane, and pumice my feet).
3. What is your inspiration? How has personal experience influenced your creativity?
My inspiration comes from every thing, I mean every thing. It is often that creativity is exclusive to just one or two forms of art, use what you can use, I can't play instruments, I'm tone deaf and my beat sucks but I can twist language into rhyme. So that is what I do. My biggest inspiration on a technical point of veiw would be the work of Robert Burns. But my inspirations of what I write come from many sources but tend to be anger or darkness. I don't see this as a bad thing, if I'm to write a poem about a certian social political issue I'd often take it to a dark direction. This is good, we all have a part to play and that is mine. My strongest inspirations tend to be the work of influenctial people, friends and parapsycology/spirituality.
4. What is your favorite creation? Please explain why you selected this one.
"Dania's Djembe"
Because it fucking rocks and it almost got published.
5. What do you wish to accomplish with your art?
I hope to get published and have my work read and enjoyed but some one else in the world who doesn't even know me. Because than I would have created something genuine.
6. How do you know when a piece or project is finished and needs no additional work?
Poems are never finished. I stop working on them at times because I feel they are the best that I can make them in my current status or I'm just tired of them. But I'll come back later.
7. Have you ever been faced with negative feedback? How was this reflected in your work, if at all?
Of course I have, I take some of it as suggestive "constructive criticism" and try to do better at parts that I can. This also keeps me from getting a big head. I can at times make fun of myself in my work which I think makes it better and tends to be an often times message in my work of beauty without perfection.
8. What impact do you think that commercialism and the media has had on your work? Is this good or bad?
It's hard to say since I can't compare it to other wise. I would say good like that I have Hip Hop influences with my work and since I write in present day commercialism will make it in. One thing about Robert Burns is he wrote in the Scot's dialect which was looked down upon by nearly every one. He did this willingly so his kin can understand his work fully. As some one living now I am writing in our language so it will have allot of commercialism.
9. Are you a fan of cartoons? If so, what is your favorite one?
Aqua Teen, hands down
10. What is playing in your CD player/Ipod right now?
Lalla Rookh, a Celtic band from Colorado
11. If you had to be any of these things, which would you like to be?
a) a member of the opposite sex, b) a clock, c) a pair of shoes, d) a duck
Please explain your choice.
a girl, men suck
12. If you only had 24 hours to live, how would you spend your day?
I wouldn't tell any one since than I'd be crowded with people and wouldn't be able to tell all my "love yous." Giving full range of anything I would do I'd tell all my "love yous" to people, expierence S&M for the first time and have a team of ghost hunters around me to document my passing. Other wise I would just tell all my love yous and try to see every one that I can.
