980321 17:06 Tea and Tephi

Irish tradition has it that on this day the city of Tara was founded by two princesses, Tea and Tephi. Way to go Tea and Tephi!

Can we say it's Oscar time? I knew you could. I hope that none of you try to get a hold of me Monday night 'cause I'm gonna have the phone off the hook and the tv set to ABC. It's Oscar time. Yeah!

Just got back from ASC. Did I mention that it's Saturday? That I worked Mon-Fri? Oh, just checking. Alright, time to hit the books. I have two tests, one Bio essay, and plenty of Calculas homework to finish up. Plenty of time, right?

980318 20:10 Did I mention I cook too?

Ah, more of the usual. Made some changes here and there but still there is not much new yet. I'm waiting for inspiration to strike my lazy rear-end and get me moving. As you have probably noticed I have moved the old news to it's own section just to keep this page a decent size.

I appreciate all the feedback I am getting. (You are sending me feedback right?) Busy, busy, busy right now so I can't say a whole lot. For those of you wondering why the last few updates have been so far between, well, I have a life outside this computer and I'm out there a lot too. (Hah hah, just kidding.)

For those of you following David Dansies wedding I have been informed that the date has been moved up to May 14 with a reception on the 16th. Feel free to send him you best wishes. (It appears that in Yewtah there are so many churches and what not that you can get a wedding reception at just about any time you darn well please. Out here in big LA there are places with a six month waiting list. Go figure.)

NAB is coming up and all of ASC is running around trying to get the last of the preparations finished. Things are getting pretty hairy even though every thing is under control. (We just like it hairy.) If you are in Las Vegas for NAB, and who won't be, drop by the ASC booth and check us out. (#S4718) It looks like I might be heading out that way myself so just watch out.

980312 20:47 Holy mother of pearl!!!

Well I have a gigantic announcement to make. I find it hard to believe myself. (Well not really.) I need a brand new paragraph just for the news though.

My best friend David Dansie proposed to Jennifer Ince, she accepted, and they will both be married before the sky lights up for the Fourth of July. I want to extend a hearty congratulations to both David and Jennifer. Way to go! For those of you wondering about Jennifer and David they met three weeks ago and after a whirlwind romance. . . (Hah hah just kidding.)

David has been seeing Jennifer for almost four years now, although David was gone on his missionary for a couple of those years. (Speaking of return missionaries. hee hee David proposed to Jennifer exactly one year after returning from his mission thus escaping the cliche of a returning missionary getting married after getting back from their mission by a day. Congratulations. ;-> )

I will have more information as I can so keep an eye on this page.

980312 20:04 And its 82 degrees in the shade. . .

Yes that's right. It was a warm, breezy day outside today. Temperature in the mid to upper eighties without a cloud in the sky. I just filled up my car with gasoline at 89 cents a gallon. I've got nine movie theater complexes within twenty minutes of my house. (Two 25+ megaplexes.) I can slip out my door and be at the beach in forty minutes. I have three airports, four shopping super centers, the heart of the entertainment industry, and seven McDonalds within an hour of my house. I have Tijuana to the south and San Francisco to the North. The Pacific Ocean to my West and the San Andreas fault to the my East. I AM THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE! MU HAHA!

Aah. That was fun. Seriously though I am looking forward to another fun filled weekend. . . . drum roll. . . working at ASC moving furniture around. Yeah! This is the reason I am going to college, really it is. Not just anyone is qualified to work at ASC and move furniture around. It takes training. Oh yeah.

You can now view my mostly complete links page. Head there and see for yourself.

980310 23:12 Erratus

Made a few additions to the links page. Nothing real for now, just some fluff. I plan on putting up mostly news type sites as that is mostly what I check out in a day. Check it, love it, link it.

-D.

980310 20:25 235 days till Halloween!

Yep, I actually counted the days. Yeah!!! I can't wait. Halloween! Halloween!

Anyway this last whole week has been really busy with all sorts of stress flying around. Essays, tests, reports, and homework at school. ASC being their typical slave-driving self. And a full weekend down in San Diego doing the military thang. I am tired. The weekend went fairly typical with a lot of waiting around to go home and a lot of small jobs like cleaning and what not. We did get a pretty hefty uniform inspection in our service Alphas. Try standing perfectly still for forty-five minutes in a tight, hot uniform and you too can enjoy the benefits of the military. The highlight of the weekend was the swim qualification portion of it. You know as Marines we are all supposed to be amphibious and we have to do all sorts of maneuvering in the water with full gear. At the end of it all we got to jump off of the thirty-five foot tower into the pool. We couldn't wear our packs because they said that it broke the packs too often. Weeeeee. (It sure is a whole lot higher at the top than at the bottom. Three stories tall or more.)

Now that I have some relatively free time I am going to get back into the web page biz and hopefully I can get up more sections soon. I may have to hold off on the Rusty Nail Page until I can get some film developed. Keep the suggestions coming in and I'll see what I can get done.

980303 20:28 Implied Duplicity

I've been taking a short break on the updating the web page biz as things get a bit busier out here in the real world. Since I am on the subject of the real world I have received some questions as to what my week is actually like. For those of you who wonder the same thing I have devised an easy method for you to try in the comfort of your own home. Draw a circle on the wall and bang your head there five times. Not only does this help to relieve stress but it is the physical equivalent to the mental aspect of my week.

I have made some polishes to various pages and am still planning on getting my links page and bio fleshed out. Stay tuned. I have received some great advice on the layout of the page. I found that some people were getting problems seeing the main menu bar when the window was contorted in various sizes. I have moved it to the side in the hopes that it will help. Keep the feedback coming.

I managed to see Dark City this last weekend and I was not disappointed with it. I thought it had amazing visuals in both set design and special affects. The atmospheres was great and I enjoyed the lighting immensely. The cinematography was fluid and artsy without overdoing it as I thing some of John Woo's earlier movies do. I thought the storyline was interesting and maintained a very fast pace throughout the movie and that may be difficult for many people to catch all the subtleties, (i.e. plot elements) and may need to be watched more than once to completely understand. I don't think it had quite the immersive feel as Blade Runner but still created it own intriguing world. Alex Proyas seems to have a good talent in describing the darker side of the human spirit and getting that onto film intact. (Also director of The Crow, another great movie.) All in all I think I would recommend it.

Oh, FYI. For all those people who are wondering about the numbers in red. That is the date and time I update the page. yy/mm/dd which is standard military format as well as the 24 clock.

980226 22:12 This time it's love, next time it's 20 Dollars.

Just finished the preliminary Email page and added more CAX information. So ya'll can now give me your feedback and opinions on anything in life that strikes your fancy. (Please no more Cartesian philosophy, I've filled my quota for the week.) I am still making small changes to the other existing pages, fixing a broken link here adding some. . . something else there. I still need to get a stupid links page up, the photos page done and the RUST! page. I am contemplating adding a literary page with all sorts of my great literary talent on display.

It's another week in the my life and it is predictably the same as last week and the week before that. I'm looking forward to working Saturday as well. (I already work Mon-Fri.) I tell ya, those guys at ASC are sucking me dry! SLURP! A dried up, bitter husk at a tender age with nothing better to do but work all day, all week. I don't know how much longer I can take it! (If you think I am sexy or have earned your pity, email me and we'll do lunch. Females only, thank you.) ;-)

980224 00:21 And the Rain came tumbling down.

I have added a rather lengthy complaint about the weather in the rants section. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. ( And if you are you can't tell me about it cause my email page isn't done yet. So there.) I haven't gotten to the photos section yet either. If you are waiting for the rusty nail page you may have to wait for a while as it might be the last page I get too. To whet your appetite, for those who don't know, it's a cross between voodoo and rusty nail sub-culture.

Yep, it's still raining. Burbank was a nightmare to try to drive out of today. It was literally like trying to paddle upstream 'cept my cars doesn't have any paddles. I almost stalled a few time and had some water leak in the sides of the doors. Yes it was that high in areas. Two streets I usually take to get to work were completely flooded and managed to make the ten o'clock news. I was so proud.

Anyway, it is late and yadda yadda yadda.

980222 13:23 Yakketty-Yak

Well, I am in the process of updating the photos and email sections. Still a lot to come so just keep yer patience. It takes me a lot longer cause I am creating all (Ok most all of them. Minus one or two) of the graphics myself. It's a lot of fun but it sure takes forever.

Went out to see The Zero Effect the other night. I thought that is was a real good movie. Bill Pullman managed a real good performance as well as Ben Stiller. (I did think that Mr. Stiller's acting was a bit shallow in the beginning.) Still no good previews out recently but on the good side Dark City will be out in another week! Now that I am looking forward to. Heard from my sister, (Hiya Sarah!) that Mr. Nice Guy is out into the trailer phase and I can't wait to see that one as well. New Line Cinema had better not butcher it like they did Supercop and Armour of God II.

I think that's all the news that's fit to print. 'Cept that it is still raining out here. Rain on!

Oh and if anyone is looking to get rid of their car and happen to live in the Los Angeles area give me a ring as I am in the market for one. No trucks or vans alright, I am looking for a nice mid to small range four door that can handle long-distance driving.

980219 20:00 It's the truth, I swear. . .

I have updated the bio page and added some legacy pages from my old site to the rants page as well as a drop dead gorgeous Rants/Raves logo that I made myself. Check it out.

El Nino is showering us with a little rain right now but unfortunately LA is already rain on to the saturation point and this means more flooding and what not. Personally I love the rain so I say let it rain!

If anyone is gonna be hangin around NAB98 drop by our booth at ASC Booth (#S4718). I won't be there personally but you'll get to see our product line. Really though our VR300 line is the best on the market and you heard it from the source.

980218 15:50 Magnum Opus

I still have a long ways to go but I am still planning on fleshing out the rest of pages. I am planning on posting the most regular updates here but don't expect daily or even weekly updates once the place is under control. I only plan on getting a respectable page created to hide the two year old derelict I had left for dead almost two years ago.

I am planning on completing the bio page and Rust page first. Yes I have an "All Hail the Rusty Nail" page in the works and hope to have it up soon. The links will be pretty superficial for a while and the photos page I plan on working on last or whenever I get too bored with the normal page. I'll keep you updated. There is no way anyone can get in hold with me to give me any feedback yet and that's fine by me so if you have burning desires to get a hold of me you'll just have to wait.

This may be the biggest update I do for a while simply cause it's the first. So sit back and relax and let me do my work in peace. Heh heh.

Ciao, D
