JOB SEARCH TIMELINE
JULY & AUGUST:
- Click on Accounting
Recruiting 2001 on the Career Center Webpage (www.csun.edu/career) for complete
information and instructions on fall recruiting. MIS students will again participate in the Technical Arena
at the Fall Job Fair on Oct. 22nd, unless they are interested
in working for an Accounting Firm or company attending ARD. (see list of Accounting
Recruiting Day Employers, also on the Career Center Webpage)
- Come to Career Center,
University Hall 105, during Walk-In hours, 11-1 daily, for resume critiques
or help with InterviewTRAK.
- Register online for
Accounting Recruiting and On-Campus Interviews with the Career Center and
InterviewTRAK at www.csun.edu/career. Click on Campus Interviews and follow instructions. Use the online Student Manual if you
need help. FINAL DEADLINE for
Resume Submission is midnight Sept. 21st but early registration
will greatly improve your chances for interviews.
- Attend a Job Seminar
for On-Campus Interviews on Thurs. Aug 30th from 6-8 pm or Wed.
Sept 5th from 2-4 pm IF YOU DID NOT participate in a Resume/Interview workshop last
spring or IF you have questions regarding InterviewTRAK or the accounting
recruiting process in general.

If you ALREADY attended a seminar, you may simply
Register with InterviewTRAK, upload your resume, and begin submitting it as
position descriptions appear during July/August.
- Watch Career Center
Webpage (www.csun.edu/career) for
updated lists, after August 1st, of Organizations/Firms
Registered for Accounting Recruiting Day.
Research Firms.
- Develop your
Professional Introduction and Questions for Recruiters for Meet the Firms
(9/11), Accounting Recruiting Day (9/20) and Fall Job Fair (10/22).
- Plan conservative
wardrobe (dark suits) for Events and Interviews. Remember, new suits usually take 2 weeks for
alterations! First impressions
count!
SEPTEMBER:
- Join the Accounting
Association and/or BAY and attend their Meet the Firms.
- Carefully review all
information found on links to “Accounting Recruiting 2001” on the Career
Center Webpage.
- Review Preparations for
Meet the Firms and Accounting Recruiting Day (Suit cleaned, resumes
copied, introduction and questions practiced, etc)
- Check InterviewTrak
daily for invitations to interview.
Signups will begin at 12:01 AM Sept. 21st. Be aware of sign-up
date if you are an alternate.
- Do additional serious
research (find links at www.csun.edu/career)
on firms with whom you will be interviewing and plan your interview
emphasis accordingly.
- Email questions to Ginny Hein (ginny.hein@csun.edu), make an
appointment with me (677-3080) or come by the Career Center during my Walk-In Hours on
Wednesdays, 1.30-3:30. No
counseling the day before the event!
