OPTION - Screenwriting

Pre-CTVA majors will take 9 units of preparatory classes.

Students interested in entering the Screenwriting Option in the Department of Cinema and Television Arts must first complete their G.E. requirements and take 3 prerequisite courses. These courses are CTVA 100 (Introduction to Mass Communications), CTVA 210 (Television-Film Aesthetics), and CTVA 220 (Foundations of Media Writing). The courses may be taken here at CSUN or elsewhere.

NEW SCREENWRITING OPTION INFORMATION REGARDING PORTFOLIO REVIEW
For administrative reasons, the Screenwriting Option has suspended the portfolio process and will admit students according to the old criteria (B- or better in CTVA 220, C or better in CTVA 100 and CTVA 210, junior standing, overall GPA of 2.0 or better). This is effective immediately. Those interested in declaring the Screenwriting major should contact the CTVA office ASAP. Any new Screenwriting major is encouraged to enroll in the Wednesday 2:00-4:45 p.m. section of CTVA 320 for Spring '09 (class #10180). That section of CTVA 320 (Writing for Film and Television) is also open to any student who will have passed CTVA 220 by the end of Fall '08.

Students in the Screenwriting Option will take 3 lower division units and 36 upper division units as indicated below:
