PLEASE CIRCULATE THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENTS TO ANYONE HEADING TO BORREGO SPRINGS FOR OUR ANNUAL CONFERENCE MARCH 16-18, 2007.

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT: MINORS GOING ON FIELD TRIPS
ANY MINOR IN ATTENDANCE ON A FIELD TRIP IS REQUIRED TO HAVE THEIR WAIVER FORM SIGNED BY BOTH LEGAL GUARDIANS.  IF YOU NEED A FORM EMAILED OR FAXED TO YOU BEFOREHAND, CONTACT JOHN AUBERT IMMEDIATELY AT 916 484-8637 OR AUBERTJ@ARC.LOSRIOS.EDU

All other field trip participants will be required to sign a waiver at the departure site.  If necessary, see the field trip descriptions online (www.calgeog.org) to determine where your particular field trip will be meeting.

SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT: ROAD CLOSURE

A COMMON DRIVING ROUTE TO BORREGO SPRINGS WILL BE CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION DURING THE CONFERENCE.  THE FOLLOWING LINK LEADS TO AN ARTICLE CONTAINING A MAP SHOWING THE CLOSURE.  THERE IS A SUGGESTED DETOUR:

DEPENDING ON YOUR POINT OF ORIGIN, ANOTHER GOOD ALTERNATIVE TAKES YOU TO THE JUNCTION OF HWY 79 AND S22 (ABOUT 4 MILES EAST OF LAKE HENSHAW ON THE MAP).  FROM THERE YOU CAN TAKE S22 EAST ALL THE WAY TO BORREGO SPRINGS.  I HAVE TRAVELED THIS ROUTE MANY TIMES, AS RECENTLY AS JANUARY.

Check www.calgeog.org on Monday March 12 for posting of the conference program (w/ times, meeting rooms, etc) and a list of all abstracts submitted.
