Learning Styles

Information about learning styles and Multiple Intelligence (MI) is helpful for everyone especially for people with learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder. Knowing your learning style will help you develop coping strategies to compensate for your weaknesses and capitalize on your strengths. This page provides an explanation of what learning styles and multiple intelligence are all about, an interactive assessment of your learning style/MI, and practical tips to make your learning style work for you.

Avoid Div's

All attempts were made to avoid "div soup": there is one div container each for the header, footer, and each column. There are only 3 extra divs:

  1. Outer container for all 3 columns. Background color (violet) set that will show behind the right column.
  2. Inner container for just the left and center columns. Background color (yellow) set that will show behind the left column (or set no colors to get the same background as the right column). The center column has its own background color (light blue).
  3. Empty div with a clear property to stretch the height of the containers. This is soley for background color affects.

Each column div and the inner container div are floated either left or right.

This template assumes the center column will be the longest, but that only matters if different background colors or borders spanning the length of the page are desired. The color properties may not give the desired look if the center column is not longest.

Background images might be used instead, using the same concepts as in the 2-column template, probably one background image for the outer container (for right column color) and another for the inner container (for left column color). The center column would not get an explicit background color, but inherit the inner container background color.
