Dan Anderson '83' Santa Barbara Bank & Trust Senior Premier Banking Manager Establishes First Individual Endowed Professorship.
Santa Barbara Bank & Trust Community Senior Premier Banking Manager Dan Anderson has committed $350,000 through his estate plan to establish an endowed professorship in finance. "This is the first endowed finance professorship established by an individual alumnus" said Development Director Matt Rinnert. "Dan's generous gift will help the finance department attract and?or retain highly qualified faculty members."
Mr. Anderson's current responsibilities include managing Santa Barbara Bank & Trust's business development and client service efforts in the Southern Ventura and Northern San Fernando Regional markets. Prior to joining Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, Mr. Anderson was an Investment & Trust Consultant at City National Bank where his responsibilities included developing investment strategies, estate planning, and trust & custody services for individuals and small businesses. "CSUN taught me how to apply myself to work both relentlessly and intelligently, and since these two basic tenets have played such a large role in my professional success, I felt that it was important that I give back some of my financial gain to the University as a way to say "thank you," thank you for teaching me these critical skill/gifts…"
Mr. Anderson had earlier achieved key management, investment and credit sales success at Bank of America, where he rose to the position of Senior Vice President, West Coast Regional Sales Manager for their Private Bank (Tier 3 Division). In addition, Dan achieved investment and credit sales success with such recognized financial firms as Citibank, Merrill Lynch, and Wells Fargo Bank.
Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from California State University, Northridge, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of California at Irvine. He has earned an advanced degree in banking from Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington, completed an advanced Trust Degree from Cannon Trust School, completed his Personal Financial Planning (PFP) Designation at UCLA, and has earned the American Bankers Association's (ABA) Certified Trust & Financial Analyst (CTFA) designation.
Mr. Anderson has remained active within the Cal State Northridge community, having participated as a guest speaker for both the MBA and undergraduate programs, as a board member on the College of Business and Economics Partners Program, a Business Honors Case Competition judge, an alumni association speaker at commencement, and currently the coordinator of the Conejo Valley Alumni Association. "Dan's support and participation with the College of Business and Economics plays an important role as we continue to strengthen our relationships with our alumni and the business community," said Dean William Jennings.
