Math Links

Math History:

MacTutor History of Mathematics Archive

Resources for Activities:

FERMAT Program at CSUN (funded by NSF)

Math Education:

David Klein's page (he has written many articles on the topic)

Geometry:

Animations of Constructions (provides step-by-step animations of Euclidean Constructions--scroll to the bottom).

Constructions using Geometer's Sketchpad (you don't need to own GSP for this. Playing with the applet at the bottom of the page is fun--you can pull the points around and see how the constructions change as you alter the original triangle).

Euler Characteristic (relates edges, vertices and faces of polyhedra)

Bradley Wagner's 310 page (has powerpoints of all 310 lectures. If you miss a class, this may be quite useful!)

The van Hiele 5 levels of geometric thought.

Polyhedra & their nets (you are able to see how polyhedra are assembled from their nets)

Hyperbolic Geometry (another type of noneuclidean geometry)

Spherical Geometry (one type of noneuclidean geometry--your space is not flat!)

Fractal (fractals have self-similarity)

Encyclopedia of Polyhedra (lots and lots of polyhedra)

Probability & Statistics:

Andrea Nemeth's page (find out more about statistics and probability!)

Algebra:

Pythagorean Theorem (this page has lots and lots of different proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem)

Fermat's Last Theorem (an old problem in mathematics recently answered)

Numbers:

Special Numbers (every number is special!)

Fun:

Jeff Weeks' Geometry and Topology Software (including games)
