Geography

Where did our forefathers come from? The earliest records we have indicate that most of the WALDINGERS came from an area just north of the Carpathian Mountains called GALICIA. These records date back to the early 1800s.

Within a ten mile area lie the cities of DROGOBYCH, STRYY and BORISLAV, which seems to be the immediate area where the family once lived. These cities are 40 miles south and west of what is now called LVOV. In the old days this city was called LEMBERG and also LWOW.

DROGOBYCH, which is now in the Ukrainian S.S.R., lies approximately at 23.75 degrees east longitude and 49.5 degrees north latitude.
