7-on-7 Soccer Rules

Registration and Participation Requirements
  • All participants are required to sign up in the Fitness Centre Sales Office before they play their first game.
  • The following is a list of information you are required to furnish when you come to register:
    • CSUN ID card (No drivers license)
    • Current class schedule or registration card
    • Money - cash (exact change) or credit card (VISA or Mastercard), no checks
    • Men $25.00 - Women $15.00
  • If you do not have this information when you go to register, you will not be allowed to register. 
NO ID NO PLAY
  • Each participant must bring their CSUN ID card, with proper sticker on it, to all games in order to participate.
  • If your ID is lost or stolen it is your responsibility to replace it before your game.
  • NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Driver's license or yellow slips will not be allowed
  • Yellow slips are your receipt and should be used as proof to get a replacement sticker for half price.  Should you find the original ID with sticker, you will be refunded for your second sticker.
Forfeitures 
  • Forfeit time is ten (10) minutes after the scheduled game time, unless games are delayed due to factors beyond our control. 
  • The minimum number of players required to start and finish a game is six (6).  Less than six players constitute a forfeit!  This includes ejected and            injured players. 
  • The official can forfeit the game at his/her discretion for continued flagrant disregard for the rules or for unsportsmanlike conduct (this includes both      players and fans). 
  • Continued flagrant disregard, physical or verbal abuse toward, or intimidation of the officials will, at the decision of the Intramural Director, be cause for  expulsion of the offending team for the remainder of the season.  
  • Contest Structure
    • Contest will consist of one or two halves of play.
    • 20min halves for men.
    • 15min halves for women and co-ed.
    • In the first half the clock will not stop.
    • In the second half the clock will stop only in the last 2-minutes.
    • In the event of a tie, penalty kicks will be taken from the 10-yard line.  Five shooters from each team will shoot, if still tied then three shooters from each team will shoot until one team misses.  In the regular season(i.e. half games) games will end in a tie.
    • Running clock for all regular season games.
    No Offsides
    • The offensive team can be on either side of the defense without being penalized.
    Time-outs
    • Each team is given 2-timeouts for the game.
    • Only 1 time-out for regular season games.
    Uniforms Required
    • All teams are required to wear the same color t-shirts.
    • Goal keeper shirt must be a different color from any other shirt on the field.
    • NO UNIFORM NO PLAY - NO EXCEPTIONS.
    Kickoffs
    • The team with the ball, must kick the ball backwards into their territory before going forward to score.
    • Team with the ball CAN NOT take a shot on goal on the kickoff.
    Hand Ball
    • No use of hands otherwise a penalty will be called-except for the goalkeeper inside the 10-yard box.
    • If a hand ball is called the opposite team will be awarded a direct free kick, on the ground, from the spot of the foul.
    • Hand balls inside the 10-yard box will result in a penalty kick.
    • A hand ball is anything from the side of the shoulder, down the arm.
    Substitutions
    • Substitutions will be allowed only after a scored goal, time-out or half-time.The referee calls you into the game.
    • When making a substitution, the referee needs to call the player into the game before that player can step on the field. 
    • You CAN NOT sub yourself in without permission from the referee.
    • In the event of an injury on the field, that injured player may be granted a substitute to play in their place.
    Language
    • Abusive language will not be tolerated. 
    • Do not verbally or physically abuse the referee or any player/person in general. 
    • Judgment call of ref CAN NOT be protested.
    • It is the referee's discretion as to whether or not to yellow card a player for abusive language.
    Out of Bounds
    • If ball should go out of bounds on the end line, a corner kick or goal kick will be called, depending on which team the ball hit last to make it go out of bounds. 
    • If the defense touches it last, a corner will be called for the offensive team.
    • If the offensive team should hit it out, a goal kick will take place by the defensive team.
    • If the ball goes out of bounds on the sideline, the opposite team has an indirect kick from the spot where the ball left the field of play.
    • For the ball to be out of bounds, it must completely cross the line.
    Penalties
    • Penalty kicks are from the direct spot of the foul or at the 10-yard line if a penalty occurs inside the 10-yard box.
    Sliding Rule
    • No player shall slide, slide-tackle or dive at any time, with the exception of the goalie.
    • The goalie cannot slide feet first, but can only dive head first after the ball.
    • If a any player commits any of the above acts, the result is a yellow card.
    • If a any player commits any of the above acts a second time in a game, the result is a red card.
    Yellow and Red Cards
    • If a player receives a yellow card, then that player must sit out of the game until any team scores a goal.  That player may also re-enter the game at the end of a half, and may also participate in an overtime shoot-out. (One player per goal/per team).
    • The yellow-carded player's team must play a man down until that player is eligible to re-enter the game.  That player may not substitute into the game.
    • If a player receives a red card (or 2 yellow cards), then that player is ejected from the game.
    • Any ejected player may not play the following game until he/she meets with the IM Coordinator.
    Delay of Game
    • No delay of game.
    • First is a warning
    • Second, a time-out is taken away if you still have one, if not, the team plays a player down.
    • Third, the team plays a player short
    • This does mean a team may have to play more than one player down in some situations.
    In addition, all other general soccer rules will apply!
