Manage Your Stress

 

If smoking is a way for you to relieve stress, you might want to find other ways to relax. Try one or a combination of these methods.

Keep a journal. You can write about your thoughts, feelings and memories.  Writing forces you to be honest and be aware of your actions.

Find one or two people to talk to. Talking about your problems forces you to organize your thinking. It also allows you to think about solutions instead of dwelling on your problems

Learn one or more ways to relax. Listen to some soft music or sounds from nature (e.g., running water, waves, birds singing, etc.). Take a warm bath or shower. Meditate.

Stay physically active.

Eat healthy and maintain a well-balanced diet.

Learn to deep breathe. Deep breathing is the easiest form of relaxation.
