Amy Murphy
Introduction
I have been teaching science for eight years. Prior to becoming a science teacher I was a fisheries biologist for the California Department on Fish and Game. I decided to become a teacher to share my joy of science with students. In my free time I enjoy backpacking, gardening, and playing with my new puppy.
In addition to working on my Master's at CSUN, I am also working with the Ormond Beach Restoration Project and the Santa Barbara Channel Keepers to restore a wetland area in Port Hueneme. In the spring one of my Honors Classes will be working with scientists from Channel Keepers to monitor water quality in the Ormond Beach Wetland area.
Educational Philosophy
As a teacher I feel that I owe it to my students to bring consistency, diligence, and warmth to my job. I hope that I can inspire and encourage these traits in my students, so that they can become contributing members of society. I also aspire to share my love of science and learning with my students by providing them with a stimulating and exciting environment in which to learn.
