An Invitation to China

Group photo of the students who traveled to ChinaFifteen theatre students and faculty from the Mike Curb College of Arts Media and Communication performed and participated at China's 2008 National Arts Education Summit held in mid-November at CSUN's sister school, Shanghai Normal University.

Dean Robert Bucker was joined by Theatre Dept Chair Peter Grego and CTVA Chair Robert Gustafson in speaking before the summit of arts deans from colleges and universities throughout China.

For the summit, director J'aime Morrison and scenography professor John Binkley lead the CSUN students in reviving "HOUDINI's BOX", an original CSUN play about the life of America's most famous escape artist. It was performed at Shanghai Normal University's Campus Theatre, where it was enthusiastically received by the deans and SHNU students alike

Very special thanks go to Zhao BingXiang and the Chinese hosts who made the visit possible, contributing all the costs of the CSUN delegation in China, with thanks also to the CSUN student government and alumni fundraising that supported our students' travel there.
