Overview of Project
- Paper*
- You will write an 8-10 page research paper on an environmental topic related to Oceanography. You are responsible for choosing your topic, but it must be approved by Mr. Stephens. Each core subject (science, math, history, and English) will have a section. The basic set-up of the paper is as follows:
- Title Page-One Page
- Introduction-One to Two Paragraphs (English)
- History-Two Pages
- Oceanography-Three Pages
- Math-One Page
- Action Project-One and a Half to Two Pages
- Conclusion-One to Two Paragraphs (English)
- Appendix-Diagrams, Graphs, Data Tables, Photos, and Figures
- Reference Page-One Page
- Action Project*
- You will learn a tremendous amount of information about an environmental issue related to the ocean. You must complete an action project that helps alleviate or fix this problem. Examples include public service announcements, related community service, letters to politicians or corporations, lessons taught to children, or educational pamphlets given out to adults. Be creative, but remember that the action must be outside of the CALS High School Community.
- Presentation*
- Your presentation will be given during a "gallery walk". Consumers of your product will include peers, teachers, administrators, parents, and community members. Your presentation could include video, multimedia, posters, graphs, skits, display boards, or acting. Do not limit your creative juices; present all of your hard work in the best way you see fit. Aim for a presentation that lasts roughly five minutes.
