Minutes for the Meeting of 5 September 2006

Attending: Noga, Bill, Steven, Alex, Chris Ragazzi
- First ACM meeting
- Sometime next week would be good
- Noga has classes until 8pm Mon/Wed, Tue/Thu much better for meetings
- Decided time: Thursday Sept 14, 5pm
- Refreshments
- Department will cover first $200
- Pizza: get it from Domino's or something, delivered to CSUN at 5
- Cheese, vegetarian, hawaiian, chicken, 3-4 “standard” pizzas
- 12-15 pizzas total if expecting 60 people -- $180 max
- Bill will take care of pizza
- Drinks: buy 6 12-packs of cans, at least 1 diet, 1 caf. free -- $20 max
- Alex will take care of drinks
- Depending on price of pizza, Bill may pick up dessert items too
- Steven will take care of advertisements -- flyers in ACM display cases, etc.
- Patty has list of emails from prev. year? Chris will ask about it
- Mailing list: Steven will talk to Bill about majordomo
- Possible events
- Another JPL tour if possible
- Any Google contacts? Not really
- Lockheed? Got new moon contract, maybe they want to talk
- Sam Stokes from MS (give topic)
- Barnes: on sabbatical, does graphics, VR, etc.
- Grad student talks
- Tour of campus data center, what ITR does
- ACM T-shirt design contest?
- LUG: talk about Linux (contact via Chris)
- Official ACM student chapter? No response from Aaron; Bill has the forms
- Outreach to high schools?
- ACM room situation: Noga will ask Steven S
- Website
- Must have official ACM logo
- Refrain if possible from using WebCT, use website instead
- WebCT useful for voting? Can just collect people's CSUN email addresses instead
- Links to nat'l ACM, ACM portal, discussion forum, member DB
- Steven will talk to ITR helpdesk about getting PHP/MySQL or similar
- Alex will check to see if there's money left over from prev. years
- Contests: leave to Robert, have something to announce at meeting, handouts if possible
- Weekly meetings: Thurs sometime between 4 & 7?
- Bill meeting with Kabo (assoc. dean) on Fri
- Talk to 182 students?
