Tamaulipas is located at the northeast of the country and by the Gulf of Mexico. This state's music and dances are a mixture of central-European polka and Mexican huapango or huasteco styles. Its music is a combination of accordion, violin, and bass guitar. Tamaulipas attire is usually light brown with white embroidered motives. Unlike Jalisco or Sinaloa states' colorful long skirts, woman attire in Tamaulipas consists of a medium long and straight skirt. As in most of the regions in Mexico, men wear hats.
