    Dr. Breny Mendoza is Associate Professor of Gender and Women's Studies at California State University, Northridge .

    She received her Ph.D. from Cornell University (1994) in City and Regional Planning. She has a Master’s in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin and a B.A. from the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Her research focuses on feminist political theory, transnational feminisms, and Latinamericanism. Dr. Mendoza has three books: The Making of the Honduran Feminist Movement (In Spanish. Ed. Guaymuras: 1995); Rethinking the Political (In Spanish. Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú: 1998) and a co-edited book with Debra Castillo and Mary Jo Dudley entitled Rethinking Feminism in the Americas (Cornell University: 2001).     Dr. Mendoza also has ample experience in the field of gender and development as a consultant to international organizations such as the United Nations (UNDP and UNICEF), the European Union, GTZ-German government and others. Currently she is conducting research on contemporary debates of empire and democracy from a feminist postoccidental perspective. She served as the Director of the Women’s Resource and Research Center from 2004 to 2006.
