    PROFESSOR ORIT STIEGLITZ

    Professor Orit Stieglitz

    Dr. Stieglitz holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from the University of California Los Angeles and professional degrees in Architecture and Design.

    Her research emphasizes cultural, social, and political issues which affect and are affected by planning and design and concentrates on user perspectives with a focus on gender.

    As a Fulbright Fellow in 2004-2005 she conducted an ethnographic research on Bedouin women in the Middle East studying the effect of development on women in traditional societies. Her recent study with a team of UCLA and UCI researchers deals with children and women users of neighborhood parks in the city of Los Angeles, and was completed in January of 2009.

    Dr. Stieglitz is currently teaching in the Urban Planning Department at the University of California, Los Angeles and "Women as Agents of Change" in the Gender and Women's Studies Department at California State University, Northridge.
