“Veterans Professional Development Dinner” Helps Prepare Student Veterans for Future Careers

The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) invites all CSUN student veterans to attend its “Veterans Professional Development Dinner” on Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 4:45 to 7 p.m. in the Northridge Center at the University Student Union. New “Women to Women” Discussion Group Created for CSUN Women Veterans

The Veterans Resource Center at the University Student Union is hosting “Women to Women,” the first meeting of its bi-weekly discussion group series specifically created for women veteran students at CSUN. The group will meet every other Wednesday beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 23. All women veterans are invited to come network, meet new friends and discuss the topics of their choice.

Free Screening of the Invisible War

The Veterans Resource Center of California State University, Northridge and the Valley Trauma Center are collaborating to present a groundbreaking investigative documentary into the epidemic of rape within the U.S. Military.  The film will be screened on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 6 p.m.– 9 p.m. at the CSUN University Student Union Theater.  A panel discussion immediately following the screening will be moderated by the Sepulveda Vet Center and will feature Kirby Dick, the film’s director, and Amy Ziering, the film’s producer, in addition to experts on military sexual trauma and veterans.   “The Invisible War” paints a startling picture. Today, a female soldier in combat zones is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. The Department of Defense estimates there were a staggering 19,300 service members sexually assaulted in 2010 alone. Read more
