Joining Forces — Veteran Ally Program

Joining Forces

Joining Forces is a training program for Veteran Allies developed by the Veterans Resource Center at California State University, Northridge. Through this dynamic free program, CSUN faculty and staff will have the opportunity to learn about military culture, the challenges Veterans face and how to best support Student Veterans. From its location in the University Student Union, the VRC intends Joining Forces to significantly enhance support and advocacy for Student Veterans across the campus.  This important training will serve to more effectively bridge the gap between Veterans’ unique experience and the larger CSUN community.

The Joining Forces program will cover the following topics:

  • Military 101: Military culture, terminology and common misconceptions
  • Understanding the Transition: Military culture versus college culture, mental health challenges and a student panel video entitled, “How CSUN Student Veterans Turned Their Experience Into Inspiration”
  • Tips for being a Veteran Ally
