How to Request a Space

All reservation requests are processed in order of receipt and are subject to room availability. Please allow up to three business days to process the request. Reservation paperwork will be sent through email within that timeframe.

Our reservation calendar opens in August for next fiscal year (July through June of the next year). Notices will be sent to previous requesters informing them of the date they can submit their requests.

Who Can Make Reservations?

Individuals must meet the listed criteria to be eligible to make a reservation with the RES department of the University Student Union.

Chartered/Recognized Student Clubs & Organizations

  • The club/organization must be in good standing with the University Student Union.
  • The club/organization must be officially recognized by the Matador Involvement Center.
  • Officers who are listed on MataSync may submit a reservation request as well as make changes to existing reservations. Officers must update authorized contacts (officers) through MataSync and approved through the Matador Involvement Center (MIC.)
    • Officers are responsible for informing Reservations & Event Services of updates and changes to their organizations.

CSUN Departments

  • The department must be in good standing with the University Student Union.
  • Individuals who are listed on the CSUN Client Data Form may submit a reservation request as well as make changes to existing reservations. Clients who wish to update authorized contacts must submit a completed CSUN Client Data Form or Client Data Addendum Form signed by the appropriate approver.
  • CSUN Academic Departments: The registering individual must be authorized to sign contracts and incur charges for the specified department(s) as designated by the Academic Resources Council. A Client Data FormPDF Icon / Client Data Addendum Form listing the individual must be on file with Reservations & Event Services.
  • CSUN Administrative Departments/Auxiliaries: The registering individual must be authorized to sign contracts and incur charges for the specified CSUN auxiliary organization by the organization director. A Client Data FormPDF Icon / Client Data Addendum Form listing the individual must be on file with Reservations & Event Services.
  • Please contact Reservations & Event Services for guidance on when to use the Client Data Form versus Client Data Addendum Form. In addition, please allow three business days for processing of forms. 

Off Campus/Private

  • Community members holding a private event
  • CSUN students, faculty, and staff who would like to host a private event 
  • Business or community organization that is not affiliated with a CSUN department or student group

Reservation Process

To request the use of a space, please follow the steps below:

Simple Reservation

A simple reservation is defined as a reservation that conforms to established building hours and does not require additional personnel.

  1. Submit a reservation request through the Mazévo portal no later than two business days before the event date.

      To log into Mazévo and begin your request for a meeting or event space, please complete the following steps:
    1. Visit the Mazévo portal.
    2. When prompted, enter your CSUN email address.
    3. After entering your CSUN email address, complete the multi-factor authentication process through Duo.
    4. After successfully authenticating, you will have access to submit requests for rooms.
  2. After initial review, a member of the Reservations & Event Services office will send you reservation paperwork for your review.
  3. Submit all information/items required to proceed:
    • If your reservation requires payment, the following methods are accepted:
      • Cash, check, credit card
      • For student groups and campus departments: AS Chargeback, Direct Pay Stamp, Purchase Order or USU Co-Sponsorship
  4. Reservation is Confirmed
    • Changes can be made up to two business days before event. Requests for day of will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and additional fees may apply.

Complex Reservation

A complex reservation is defined as a reservation that exceeds established building hours, requires personnel or is scheduled to take place in the following spaces: Northridge Center/ Northridge Center Complex, Grand Salon, Games Room, Plaza del Sol, Oasis Wellness Center, SRC Red Ring Courts, SRC MatArena, SRC Rec Pool, SRC Plaza Pool and SRC Turf Field.

  1. Submit a reservation request through the Mazévo portal no later than thirty business days before the event date.

      To log into Mazévo and begin your request for a meeting or event space, please complete the following steps:
    1. Visit the Mazévo portal.
    2. When prompted, enter your CSUN email address.
    3. After entering your CSUN email address, complete the multi-factor authentication process through Duo.
    4. After successfully authenticating, you will have access to submit requests for rooms.
  2. After initial review, a member of the Reservations & Event Services office will send you reservation paperwork for your review.
  3. Submit all information/items required to proceed:
    • If your reservation requires payment, the following methods are accepted:
      • Cashier’s Check or Credit Card
      • For student groups and campus departments: AS Chargeback, Direct Pay Stamp, Purchase Order or USU Co-Sponsorship
    • A planning meeting may be required
    • Insurance may be required
  4. Reservation is Confirmed
    • Changes can be made up to 14 business days before the event. Requests made after that timeframe will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and additional fees may apply.

Off-Campus

  1. Submit a reservation through the Mazevo portal following the timelines noted above dependent on whether the event is a simple or complex reservation. 
    If you don’t already have a Mazévo account, please contact Reservations & Event Services to have one created. Once you have activated your account, you will have access to request space through Mazévo. 
  • To log into Mazévo and begin your request for a meeting or event space, please complete the following steps: 
    • Visit the Mazévo portal.
    • When prompted, enter your email address.
    • After successfully logging in, you will have access to submit requests for rooms.
  1. After initial review, you will be paired with a member of the Reservations & Event Services who will guide you through the reservation process.
  2. Submit all information/items required to proceed:
  • The following methods of payment are accepted:
    • Cashier’s Check or Credit Card 
  • A planning meeting may be required
  • Insurance may be required
  1. Reservation is Confirmed
  • Changes can be made up to 14 business days before the event. Requests made after that timeframe will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and additional fees may apply.
