All CSUN Students Encouraged to Run for a Leadership Position on the University Student Union’s Board of Directors

February 17, 2017

The University Student Union (USU) invites all students interested in enhancing their leadership skills and making decisions that benefit the entire CSUN student body to run for a seat on the USU Board of Directors (BOD). Students who are interested in running can submit online applications now until Monday, March 20 at 3 p.m. Voting will be held both online and at campus voting stations on Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13.

“Running for a position on the USU Board of Directors is an incredible opportunity for any student who is interested in enhancing their college experience and professional future,” said Carrie Ward, Special Services Assistant for the Board of Directors, “Student board members are able to partake in a multitude of rewarding opportunities, including networking with professionals, learning how to work in a multi-million dollar non-profit organization, and much more.”

In the last few years, the Board of Directors has renovated the USU, voted to increase funding for large-scale events such as Matador Nights, and launched the referendum that built the Student Recreation Center. Potential board candidates are expected to commit to the goals of bringing new services to the USU and facilitating the change that CSUN students want to see.

Voting is open to all CSUN students and can be done online or in person. Students who are interested in running for the USU BOD can view the open board seats available and submit their applications at www.csun.edu/usu/boardofdirectors/application.
