CSUN's Inaugural Freshman Convocation
Thursday, September 6, 2007: Oviatt Lawn.
Highlights of the day's events:
- A brass fanfare signaled the start of the procession from Matador Square
- Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., gave a speech about environmental issues
- The 2007 Wolfson Scholar, Jessica Beach, spoke about her CSUN experiences
- President Jolene Koester formally welcomed the freshman class
- Freshman students received a commemorative program and a keychain incorporating the University Seal
- There was a reception with music and food
- Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth was screened outdoors at dusk
