Eligibility for Tutoring
All student-athletes are eligible to receive free tutoring services from the Matador Achievement Center. We do not provide tutoring for non-athletes.
Spring 2015 Tutoring
Tutoring for the Spring 2015 semester will be available until the last day of classes, Friday, May 8th. Drop-in tutoring is generally available between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm, Monday through Thursday.
To find out whether a tutor is available for your course, please download a copy of the drop-in tutoring schedule (.xls). If you need tutoring in a course that is not listed, please email the tutoring coordinator, Andrea (email@example.com).
Summer 2015 Tutoring
Starting on June 1st, tutoring will be offered for all summer sessions. Check back soon for more details.
How to Become a Tutor
We are currently accepting applications for Summer 2015. Our peer tutors are currently enrolled CSUN students from all majors and disciplines. Undergraduate and graduate students, both athletes and non-athletes, that meet the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Obtained a grade of B+ or higher in desired course(s) for tutoring
Additional qualifications include:
- Tutoring experience
- Experience working with student-athletes
Download either a summer tutoring application (.doc) or a fall tutoring application (.doc) if you are interested in applying to be a tutor. Please fill out the application in its entirety, attach a copy of your resume to the back of the application, and submit it in person to the Tutoring Coordinator, Andrea Hernandez. Applications are accepted year-round.
As part of the ongoing training of the Matador Achievement Center's tutors, Andrea Hernandez hosted the department's first tutor retreat in May of 2014. The video below demonstrates the type of interactive discussions and team building exercises that took place during the retreat.
